I agree "being green" is so commercial and I don't think that many people know what Green really is or means!

I don't know if the health department is causing this lack of snacking bowls, but I heard that studies had been done on bacteria counts of such food, and it was discovered that *very few* people wash their hands adequately upon departing the restroom.

Any bar should have little bags of beer nuts or pretzels available for a reasonable price. Let's all ask if this happens to us... and promise to "spread the word about the ripoff" if the management balks at the idea.

Believe me, Julie, I'm certainly in favor of positive vibes in the house, but there's a big difference between a commitment to a clean, safe, healthy environment and a better world AND the extensive marketing that supports "being green" in the most cynical, commercial manner. but that's what capitalism is all about: Creating trends before we even knew they were there.

Thanks, Fredric.

People need to hear your message.

I'm fatigued by the so-called "green" leaning "carbon neutral" wine industry hyperbole going on. Marketing knows no boundaries in exploitation.

Well done, mon vieux!

All this posturing, not much real doing.

Great, simple prescriptions for change, and they will even cost you less.

This kind of environment in kitchen spreads positive vibes everywhere in the house. But having this kind of kitchen is not an easy thing for a common man.

Hello, again Fredric.
I had to comment on your recent posting about Markus Molitor Riesling. My mouth watered reading about LL's seared salmon with plums, onion and garlic!

We only recently began importing the Molitor line and are excited to hear wine enthusiasts like you are enjoying it! Markus is one of Europe's up-and-coming wine makers and we are delighted to represent him in the states. Yes, it may require searching, given that it's a limited production wine...but it's obviously worth it!

Please keep enjoying,

I had a similar episode at an restaurant in Dallas. We were seated at the bar (waiting for our table) which had bowls of house cured olives and assorted roasted nuts. The bartender happily served me a small bowl of each (I asked) and presented the bill for $16....
