Faithful Readers — may your tribe increase! — a piece I wrote is the featured article on The Palate Press website this week. Here’s a link to the story, which grew out of my tasting experience and interviews with winemakers at VINO 2011 in New York back in January. The focus of the piece is the culture war (as I see it) between advocates of old-fashioned winemaking in Italy, that is, using large, old barrels for aging wine, and the innovators who tout the (proliferating) use of small French barriques.
