Thomas -- I was waiting until this series was complete to address the issue of "estate" and "produced" and "vinted," because a surprising number of cabernets (and other wines, of course) are also "vinted," indeed a v. strange word. The wines of Franciscan, owned by Constellation, are now marked "vinted;" the Mount Veeder Reserve is "produced" but the regular cabernet is "vinted." Mount Veeder is also a Constellation brand.

Interesting, Fredric.

I just tasted and blogged about the 2006 Napa Cabernet. Like the wine, but of course, my take on things is a little different...give it a read; more important: read those back labels closely.
