John, I'm a huge fan of Renaissance and the philosophy that Gideon has brought to those wines. I will have to track down the Clos Saron pinot noir.

Fredric,

In response to 'the pinot of our discontent', you must at some point try Gideon's Clos Saron pinot. It's as European in style (with minimal oak influence) as you'll find from CA. Gideon is half French, did the greater part of his winemaking prep work in France, and it shows in his wines. It also shows in the wines from Renaissance which he also makes-- the newly released 05 Syrah Estate from Renaissance is incredible, as is the 01 Cab Reserve to be released this Spring.
