What was the wine market like then? Were any of the current good shops in operation back then? Was wine merely relegated to a corner while whiskey and Bourbon filled the shelves? I don't remember setting foot in a liquor store until my teens and even then it was just to get boxes for moving. When I was 19 (1995), I remember going into Arthur's and pointing out stuff for my older roommate to purchase, but as far as the 80s are concerned, wine shops were as off limits as strip joints and pool halls.
