I enjoyed the reviews and thought they were well done. You definitely should try the Vermentino. I was attracted to Tablas Creek because of their reds, but have been most pleasantly surprised by the whites and the amazing rose.

Thanks for the nice notes, Fredric. I am pleased that the wines showed well and agree strongly that they will have a long life ahead of them (well, at least the Roussanne and the Esprit Blanc).

I just brought out our 1998 Blanc (our second-ever vintage, from very young vines, and a mix of Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier) for a dinner with our Japanese importer, and it was gorgeous -- lush and honeyed but mineral, with an appealing nuttiness that was a product of age but distinct from oxidation. I'd think that newer vintages will have an even better aging curve.

Thanks,
-Jason

Edwin... i bet those 05s will be drinking v. nicely for four or five more years, say 2012 or so.

Jack... rats! i didn't get to try the Vermentino. I'll have to see if i can track some down.

I've tasted a bunch of the Tablas Creek whites recently. I like the Esprit about every other time. And the others always seem pretty good. But I think the one that's my favorite is their Vermentino (which they make very little of).

I've got a few of these wines (from 2005) stashed away and was thinking they might improve in a few years. What do you think about that? I've been anxious to taste them but I was under the impression that Tablas Creek wines -- even some of the whites -- only get better with aging.
