But... ahem. The sublime porcini risotto event is the stuff of legend, but it was not 40 years ago--merely, let's see, 23. Okay, a long time. 1985, Citta Alta-Bergamo, some sweet restaurant that stepped down the hill, so we were on a balcony overlooking Bergamo below. That glorious meal was followed by an even more riveting experience when we stumbled with into a hanging in the town square, complete with cheering peasants, donkeys, and geese--and a guy who, finally, yelled, "Cut!" and quelled our speechless astonishment. Dio mio. Can't reproduce that, but the risotto is a possible quest. Thank you and Tom for the kind word. But…
